Sneaker Wars.  I am not talking about 35th anniversary limited edition Run DMC Superstars, Jordan 1s or the fight for Pigeon Dunks, I am talking about the family battle that spawned the creation of Adidas and Puma, and shaped modern sports as we know it today.  The book follows the Dassler family, the two feuding German brothers who once worked together, only to break off to create Adidas (Adi Dassler) and Puma (Rudi Dassler) and their willingness to do anything in order to succeed (and beat the other).  Family feuds that crossed generations, betrayal, Nazi ties, corporate espionage, payola, arranged 'customs delays', wire tapping, the creation of secret companies, crazy wheeling and dealing - these two brothers had a major hand in creating sports marketing, sponsored athletes and casual sports influenced clothing as we know it today.  It makes for a juicy story and a new perspective when lacing up my kicks. xx
